  • 29mm Texas Power Bar (7th Generation) The Gold Standard Competition Barbell

Best Competition Powerlifting Barbell — FSA/HSA Eligible — Hand built in Texas Since 1980.

The 29mm Texas Power Bar (7th Generation) is the upgraded evolution of the most iconic powerlifting barbell in history (the "Original" Texas Power Bar). Hand built in Texas using ultra-premium 200k+ PSI Tensile Strength American steel, this 7th Gen model is engineered for maximum stiffness, legendary grip, and nearly indestructible durability. No bar does the big 3 better than this making it the top choice for multiple powerlifting movements for squat, bench press, deadlift and more. *USPA & IPL Approved

    Why Powerlifters Choose This Bar

    • ✓ 29mm Stiff Shaft: 200k tensile strength steel provides extra stiffness for maximal performance and minimal whip under heavy loads.
    • ✓ Legendary Aggressive Knurling: Our signature aggressive grip ensures relentless bite during maximal attempts—no chalk-heavy "passive" knurling here.
    • ✓ Approved for 1000's Of Meets: We’ve extended the bar to 86.50" and provided 16" loadable sleeves to accommodate the heaviest loads of calibrated plates and make it fully compliant and competition-ready for powerlifting sanctions/federations such as the USPA, IPL, and thousands more nationwide and worldwide.

The Modern Evolution Of An Icon

When comparing The "Original" Texas Power Bar vs. the 29mm Texas Power Bar (7th Gen) we’ve kept the soul of the Original Texas Power Bar, the 7th Generation is re-engineered to dominate the modern platform. This model features an upgraded 200k tensile strength shaft for increased rigidity and thinner, competition-style collars. We’ve extended the bar to 86.50" and provided 16" loadable sleeves to accommodate the heaviest loads of calibrated plates.

Built on the legacy of the Original Texas Power Bar created by Buddy Capps in 1980, this 7th Generation model retains the same legendary aggressive knurling and unmatched durability, now upgraded with 200K+ PSI tensile strength steel and re-engineered to meet modern USPA and IPL competition specifications.

Proudly made in the USA, every Texas Power Bar is hand built in Texas using American manufacturing standards trusted for over 45 years. This is the definitive American-made powerlifting barbell for lifters chasing record-breaking numbers in the Big Three.

    Who This Bar Is For

    • Competitive powerlifters wanting zero-flex stiffness
    • Lifters training for USPA, IPL, and other Powerlifting meets
    • Athletes focused on putting up big squat, bench, and deadlift numbers
    • Powerlifting gyms and serious home gyms
    • Lifters seeking a Texas-made, American-built competition barbell

This is not a multipurpose or Olympic bar. It is purpose-built to dominate the three powerlifting movements (Squat/Bench/Deadlift).

    Competition Approved & Meet Ready

The 29mm Texas Power Bar (7th Gen) is USPA & IPL approved, making it fully compliant for sanctioned powerlifting meets and competition training. From first meets to all-time PRs, this American-made powerlifting barbell remains the preferred choice for lifters chasing the heaviest numbers in the squat, bench press, and deadlift.

Engineered for Powerlifting: Squat, Bench & Deadlift

    • 29mm ultra stiff shaft eliminates bar whip under heavy loads
    • Aggressive knurling delivers maximum grip security for limit deadlifts
    • 5″ centre knurl increases stability and "stick" during heavy squats and bench setups

Preferred by thousands of elite powerlifters worldwide, the Texas Power Bar has been trusted to set record-breaking squats, benches, and deadlifts—from local meets to national and world competition platforms. If the Original Texas Power Bar has been your bar of choice for years, this 29mm, 200K+ PSI upgraded version is a natural next step.

  • Do Texas Power Bars come with a warranty? All Texas Power Bars products manufactured by Capps Welding Inc. have a lifetime warranty on craftsmanship. Our bars have a limited lifetime warranty against bending for the original owner under normal use. We do not warrant any item that has been abused, neglected or dumped on rack pins, safety bars, straps, boxes et al. Bushings and bearings will wear over time. If a bushing or bearing should fail/break under normal use this is covered under our warranty. Any bar shaft that is bent will be handled on a case by case basis and the replacement will be at the sole discretion of Capps Welding Inc. The original customer may ship a bar back for inspection after written authorization is provided. Proudly Made in America for over 40 years. Please email us on support@strengthshop.co.uk for any warranty claims.

How should I maintain my barbell to ensure it lasts a lifetime? Wipe down the shaft and sleeves with a dry cloth after training to remove chalk and sweat. For deeper cleaning, use a stiff nylon brush on the knurling. Lightly oil the sleeves every few months if needed.

Can I use chalk, straps or liquid grip with my bar? Yes. Chalk, straps, and liquid grip are all safe to use and won’t void your warranty. We recommend brushing excess chalk out of the knurling regularly.

What's the best way to clean the knurling and sleeves? Use a stiff nylon brush to loosen chalk and dirt. Avoid wire brushes, as they can damage the finish. For sleeves, wipe with a dry or lightly oiled cloth.

Will my barbell ever need oiling or lubrication? Our bronze bushings are self-lubricating and require very little maintenance. Occasionally wiping the sleeves with a cloth and a few drops of light oil will keep them moving smoothly.

Are Texas Power Bars safe to store in a garage or outdoors? Yes, but keep in mind that extreme humidity or rain exposure can cause surface rust. If storing in a garage, occasional cleaning and oiling will help prevent rust. We don’t recommend outdoor storage without protection.

How long will the knurling stay sharp? Texas Power Bars are known for their aggressive, long-lasting knurling. With regular use and proper care, the knurling will maintain its bite for decades.

Can my barbell handle dropping with bumper plates? Yes. Texas Power Bars are built to withstand heavy drops with bumper plates, but they are not designed for repeated drops on bare steel plates or on hard surfaces without protective flooring.

Do the sleeves spin, and what type of bushing systems do you use? Yes. All Texas Power Bars use self-lubricating bronze bushings for a reliable, smooth sleeve rotation without the maintenance needs of needle bearings.

Are these bars approved for competition use? Yes. The Original Texas Power Bar and Texas Deadlift Bar are widely approved and trusted in federations including IPF, USAPL, and many others.
