Farmers walks are a staple of Strong(wo)man training and the tools that can be used vary. This compound movement trains the whole body: stabilizes the core, strengthens the grip and is also great for conditioning work. The classic handle is quite a sturdy and big tool, maybe too big for every home gym. But space should not be the limiting factor, right? So these Compact Farmers Handles literally fill that gap and are the alternative to doing farmers walks with dumbbells or kettlebells.
Apart from the convenient fact that the Compact Farmers Walk carrying handles save a lot of space, the weight distribution is also different from the classic longer farmers walk handles. Close to the body, they imitate the classic steel block events in Strong(wo)man, where you not only walk in a straight line, but also turn around at the end of the route with the weight in your hands, without setting it down, and have to walk the route back again.
The two grips have 50mm Olympic sleeves and the loadable length of the sleeves is 43cm. The handle grip has a diameter of 32mm. They’re best loaded with regular bumper or cast iron plates, competition style plates might be too tight for the sleeves. Each handle can be loaded up to 100kg, so that’s a 200kg farmers walk in terms of weight. The Handles themselves have an empty weight of approx. 4.25kg each.
For safe handling we highly recommend using tight closing barbell clips like our Olympic Riot Collars by Lock Jaw, to prevent off-sliding plates during training.
*Please note: These can only be used with regular bumper or cast iron plates. They are not suitable to use with competition style bumper plates, due to the fine tolerances in the plate sizing. They sometimes are extremely tight and might not fit on the sleeves.
